The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked in a key piece of their offensive future, signing first-round offensive tackle Max Iheanachor to a four-year rookie contract. The team made the announcement on Friday, solidifying the 21st overall pick as part of their long-term plans.

Iheanachor, a standout from Arizona State, brings impressive credentials to the Steel City. During his senior season, he didn't allow a single sack—a testament to his discipline and skill in protecting the quarterback. Over his college career, he appeared in 32 games, starting 31 for the Sun Devils, and earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2025.

With this signing, the Steelers have now secured seven of their 10 draft picks. Still unsigned are second-round wide receiver Germie Bernard, third-round quarterback Drew Allar, and seventh-round running back Eli Heidenreich. The team is clearly moving quickly to get their rookie class under contract and into training camp.

Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy didn't hold back his enthusiasm for the new addition. "I'm very excited about Max," McCarthy said, via Teresa Varley of the team website. "He's great for us. A stud of a young man. Throughout the process, you heard about him a little bit early, and he just kept growing and growing and growing through the evaluation. He kept climbing up our board. We were excited that he was there. I think it's an excellent pick for us. He'll be a great addition to our offensive line."

For Steelers fans, this is a promising step toward building a formidable offensive line. Iheanachor's ability to keep pass rushers at bay could be a game-changer for the team's offense in the seasons ahead. As the rookies get their contracts sorted, all eyes will be on how this first-round talent translates his college success to the NFL level.
