Watch out, Will Howard and Mason Rudolph — the Pittsburgh Steelers shocked the NFL Draft by selecting a quarterback with their first of three picks in the third round.
With the No. 76 overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected Penn State quarterback Drew Allar.
The Steelers draft Penn State QB Drew Allar at No. 76 overall.“Blew me away with his interview. His knowledge of what they did at Penn State, his ability to call plays, all of it. He’s got a chance to be like a Joe Flacco.”https://t.co/OgfkCBGSvX
From 2022 to 2025, Allar threw for 7,402 yards and 61 touchdowns, while throwing just 13 interceptions.
Previously expected to be a first-round pick early in his collegiate career, Allar saw his draft stock tumble after inconsistent play in 2025 and a season-ending broken ankle.
There’s tremendous hype behind Allar, so much so that he could eventually dethrone Howard as the future starting quarterback of the Steelers.
