Although the Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t heard about what Aaron Rodgers plans to do next season, they did sweeten the pot on Tuesday.

“Sources: the Steelers placed the rare right-of-first-refusal tender on Aaron Rodgers, meaning that he can accept a 10 percent raise off last year’s salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season, and the Steelers also now will have the right to match any offer sheet he would sign with another team.

As another condition of the tender, Rodgers would only be able to sign with the Steelers once training camp begins.

So Rodgers could get a rise if he returns to the team, but it also ensures that he can’t just take off and play for another team if he decides to return, which is very much still up in the air.

Many had thought the Steelers would take a quarterback in the draft for insurance, which they did, so where does that leave Rodgers?

If he comes back, obviously, he is still the starting QB, but if he doesn’t, it sends the whole organization into a tizzy.
