Victor Wembanyama scores 39 points as the San Antonio Spurs go 2-1 up in the NBA's Conference semi-finals - while the New York Knicks are one win from progressing.

Victor Wembanyama delivered a masterclass performance, dropping 39 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a thrilling 115-108 road victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, putting them up 2-1 in the NBA's Western Conference semi-finals. Meanwhile, the New York Knicks are on the verge of advancing after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 108-94 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference.

Wembanyama, the 22-year-old French sensation, was unstoppable from the opening tip. He scored nine of the Spurs' first 11 points, sparking an 18-3 run that had San Antonio racing out to an early lead. But the Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards' 32 points and 14 rebounds, refused to back down. Edwards dragged his team back into the game, and the score was knotted at 51-51 by halftime.

The second half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading blows. With three minutes left, the Spurs clung to a narrow 106-103 lead. That's when Wembanyama took over, drilling his third three-pointer of the night and sinking a flurry of free throws to seal the win. He finished with 15 rebounds and five blocks, showcasing the two-way dominance that has made him the face of the Spurs' resurgence.

Across the country in Philadelphia, the Knicks continued their playoff march behind another stellar outing from Jalen Brunson, who poured in 33 points. New York overcame a four-point first-quarter deficit to lead 60-52 at halftime, then weathered a fourth-quarter surge from the 76ers. Quentin Grimes hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the lead to four, but Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart answered with timely buckets to seal the victory for the Eastern Conference's third seeds.

The Knicks are now one win away from advancing to the Conference finals, while the Spurs look to build on their momentum with a third straight victory. Both series resume on Sunday, promising more high-stakes drama as the playoffs heat up.
