Don't look now, but California-raised So Happy has shot up the oddsmakers list to win the 2026 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
The inspirational, Southern California-groomed horse was listed at 15-1 odds to win, according to kentuckyderby.com as of noon ET Tuesday, April 28. So Happy is now garnering more attention by bettors. The horse rose to 6-1 odds, third best behind The Puma (5-1) and Renegade (5-1), as of 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, April 29, according to kentuckyderby.com.
So Happy is trained by Mark Glatt; the horse's jockey is Mike Smith. Its last race was April 4, where So Happy won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby. And genetically, it makes sense. So Happy's father is Runhappy, a champion sprinter who was retired in 2016.
