South Hunterdon sophomore Jack Budrewicz is making a serious statement early this season, and fans have taken notice. The young standout has been voted the MyCentralJersey Reader's Choice Baseball Player of the Week, capturing over 14,000 votes after a scorching start to the year.
Budrewicz isn't new to making an impact. As a freshman, he played in all 25 games, batting .290 with 15 RBIs and 10 stolen bases—a remarkable debut that helped the Eagles to a 14-11 record. Now, with a year of varsity experience under his belt, he's leveled up, currently hitting .333 and contributing in multiple facets of the game.
His performance is a key part of the buzz surrounding South Hunterdon baseball, which has roared to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2010. Budrewicz showcased his two-way talent in a recent win over North Warren, pitching four strong innings of relief with seven strikeouts while also going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
For a sophomore, Budrewicz is displaying the kind of poise and production that turns heads. It's the exciting start of what looks to be a very promising high school career, and a well-deserved recognition for a player who is clearly just getting started.
