Somerset have moved quickly to shore up their batting lineup, signing South African batter Jordan Hermann for the next three County Championship matches as injury cover.
The 24-year-old arrives at a crucial time for the club, with a string of key players sidelined. Tom Kohler-Cadmore is out with a fractured thumb, Lewis Goldworthy is nursing a hamstring injury, and Tom Banton has yet to feature this season due to a finger problem. Hermann will be available for the upcoming fixtures against Sussex, Nottinghamshire, and Warwickshire.
Director of cricket Andy Hurry explained the decision: "We have suffered a number of injuries to key batters in the last month, so we felt that this was the perfect opportunity to strengthen the batting line up. Jordan will certainly help to strengthen our options in that department."
Hermann brings a wealth of experience to the side, having scored over 3,000 runs in 40 first-class matches. He recently earned his first call-up to South Africa's national squad for their T20 victory over New Zealand, though an injury cut that series short. Before joining Somerset, Hermann will first aim to help the team secure their third County Championship win in four matches when they take on Glamorgan.
