“Some Want To See Him Fail”: Deion Sanders Doesn’t Hold Back on Shedeur’s Influence Amid Browns’ QB Battle

Being in the NFL is a tough ride for Shedeur Sanders. College was easy, since he had the support of his father, the iconic Deion Sanders.

When you're the son of a legend, every step you take is scrutinized—and for Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the NFL has been anything but a walk in the park. College might have felt like a breeze with his father, the iconic Deion Sanders, in his corner, but the pros? That's a whole different ballgame. Now, for the second time in his young career, Shedeur finds himself fighting to hold onto the starting QB job. And Coach Prime isn't staying quiet about it.

"He don't understand that he could walk in a room with anybody and they're going to know who he is," Deion told Garrett Bush in a recent interview. "And demographically, from eight years old all the way to my fans that may be 70, he has their eyes and ears. And they want him to succeed. Some want to see him fail. But either way, they want something. And he got it, man."

It's a bold claim, but the numbers back it up. After Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel stumbled to 1-3 and 1-5 records as starters, respectively, Cleveland turned to Shedeur. He went 3-4 under center—two more wins than any other QB on the roster. His Week 14 performance against the Tennessee Titans was a standout, silencing critics with a stat line that speaks for itself. A growing number of fans are now rallying behind him to keep the QB1 role this season.

But if there's one thing that's followed Shedeur from college to the NFL, it's the relentless wave of criticism. In college, the "nepotism" label stuck like glue—he was playing for his father's team, after all. And as the flashier QB prospect in his draft class, he was an easy target for fans who love to hate a star.

The drama only intensified ahead of the draft. After reportedly struggling in team interviews, Shedeur slid from a projected top pick all the way to the fifth round. The trolls pounced, questioning his future in the league. As a rookie, he sat behind Deshaun Watson, Flacco, and Gabriel, with no clear path to the starting job. But opportunity eventually knocked, and Shedeur answered.

"He has an anointing," Deion added, hinting at something bigger than just football. Whether you're rooting for him or against him, one thing's for sure: all eyes are on Shedeur Sanders, and he's not backing down.
