The bats were blazing for Southern New Hampshire University on Friday, as the third-seeded Penmen pounded out 15 hits to stave off elimination with a decisive 10-4 win over top-seeded Franklin Pierce in the Northeast-10 Conference softball championship series in Rindge.
Kaysie DeMoura set the tone at the plate, delivering a triple and two singles, while Peyton Feldman chipped in with a double and two singles of her own. Their production anchored an explosive offensive attack that kept the pressure on FPU from start to finish.
The loss marks the end of the road for Franklin Pierce, who entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed but now falls to 0-2 in the double-elimination bracket. For SNHU, improving to 1-1 in the tourney, the victory keeps their championship hopes alive and sends them back to the field for another matchup later that same day.
With momentum on their side and a lineup firing on all cylinders, the Penmen are proving they have the firepower to make a deep postseason run.
