Smylie Kaufman has commented on the chances of Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm providing LIV Golf with a much-needed boost by contending at the PGA Championship this week. Heading into The Masters last month, it seemed inevitable that both DeChambeau and Rahm would be high on the leaderboard on Sunday at Augusta National.

As the PGA Championship tees off this week, all eyes are on LIV Golf's star duo—Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau—to see if they can deliver a much-needed statement on the sport's biggest stage. Former PGA Tour winner Smylie Kaufman recently shared his insights on their chances, and golf fans won't want to miss his take.

Heading into The Masters last month, it felt almost certain that both Rahm and DeChambeau would be battling it out on Sunday at Augusta National. After all, the pair had won three consecutive LIV Golf events leading up to the first major of the year, and they even squared off in a playoff in South Africa just before heading to Georgia. But golf has a way of humbling even the best—DeChambeau missed the cut at Augusta, while Rahm finished his round far earlier than expected.

Since then, Rahm has bounced back with a win in Mexico City, proving his game is still sharp. DeChambeau, meanwhile, has been a model of consistency at the PGA Championship, finishing inside the top four in each of the last three editions. That kind of track record makes it easy to see why some are backing the LIV pair to contend at Aronimink this week—and Kaufman is one of them.

Speaking on The Smylie Show, Kaufman broke down why he's particularly optimistic about both players. "How does Aronimink compare to Valhalla and Quail? Well, those are big boy golf courses—big, open areas. Aronimink is the same," Kaufman explained. "The rough is probably going to be lighter here than at those other places, based on what we've heard. Right there, you're thinking that checks the box for Bryson. If he's finished second at those places, we've got two check marks."

Kaufman did note one potential concern: wedge play and uneven lies. But he quickly pivoted to what excites him most. "I really like him on the greens this week. There's going to be a lot of calculation that benefits him with the speed of the greens, especially where they put some hole locations. I like the scientist on the greens this week."

Drawing a comparison to DeChambeau's dominant U.S. Open win at Winged Foot, Kaufman added, "When you think about how he attacked that golf course—playing it aggressively, getting it as far up as he could where other players laid back—that's the kind of mindset that could pay off here."

For golf fans and apparel enthusiasts alike, this week's PGA Championship promises drama, power, and precision. Whether you're rooting for Rahm's relentless consistency or DeChambeau's calculated aggression, one thing's for sure: this is a major you won't want to miss.
