Sirens Have No Room For Error, And Still Need Help To Make First Playoff Appearance

The New York Sirens have no room for error left in their own PWHL schedule, and they'll need help from the rest of the field in games against Ottawa and Toronto to make their first PWHL playoff appearance.

Only one PWHL playoff spot remains on the table. While the New York Sirens are still mathematically in the race for that spot, they are completely out of room for error, and will need help from the rest of the field if they're to make their first ever PWHL playoff.

First up, the New York Sirens must beat the Toronto Sceptres in regulation Tuesday night to stay in the playoff race. That's the first and only step New York can take. Next, they need help.

For New York to remain in contention after a regulation win over Toronto, they'll need Boston to beat Ottawa on Wednesday.

If New York beats Toronto, and Ottawa wins however, New York is eliminated, and so is Toronto.

If Ottawa loses, New York's fate temporally returns to their own hands. They'll again need a regulation win, this time against Boston, to stay alive.

Then it's back over to Toronto, who they'll need to beat Ottawa, likely in regulation, to get New York into the post season.

That's a multi-step plan that has no room for error, by the New York Sirens, and the three other teams who partially hold the Sirens' playoff fate.

Ottawa and Toronto are the other teams still in the mix, meaning all three teams will be playing for their lives this week.

Currently the Ottawa Charge hold the fourth playoff spot with 39 points, followed by Toronto with 37, and New York with 34.
