Shohei Ohtani threw seven scoreless innings against the Giants on Wednesday night, putting the Dodgers in position to end their four-game skid.

Shohei Ohtani delivered a masterclass performance on Wednesday night, throwing seven scoreless innings to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a much-needed 4-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Dodgers and showcased Ohtani's incredible two-way talent.

Just a day after hitting a home run at the plate, Ohtani was dominant on the mound, allowing only four hits while striking out eight batters over a season-high 105 pitches. His ERA now stands at an astonishing 0.82 through seven starts this season—the best in Major League Baseball.

"The sweeper felt pretty good," Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton after the game. "Even if the hitter is sitting on it, it's not necessarily something that I don't throw. But overall, just the quality of it was pretty good." Indeed, his sweeper was particularly effective, accounting for half of his strikeouts and drawing 17 total strikes with a 41% called strike plus whiff rate.

The Dodgers offense also stepped up to support their star pitcher. Mookie Betts launched a 414-foot home run in the third inning—his first since returning from the injured list on Monday—after Santiago Espinal's solo shot had already put the Dodgers on the board. Kyle Tucker scored on an RBI single from Teoscar Hernández, who then scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex Call in the fourth inning.

With two days off from hitting, Ohtani was able to focus entirely on his pitching, giving the Dodgers bullpen a much-needed rest. For fans watching at home, Ohtani's performance was a reminder of why he's the reigning National League MVP—and why his jersey is a must-have for any serious baseball collector.
