The Houston Rockets kept their series alive with a 115-96 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4.
The result ensured they avoided a sweep and extended the matchup heading into a crucial fifth game.
Even so, returning to Los Angeles has always presented a difficult challenge.
That task may now become even more complicated for Houston following the latest injury updates. ESPN reporter Shams Charania has provided contrasting news regarding two key players in that matchup.
According to Charania, Austin Reaves is closing in on a return after nearly four weeks out. The guard suffered an oblique strain against the Oklahoma City Thunder and has not featured since.
His absence has been significant, given his role as the Lakers’ second-best scoring option. Reaves averaged 23.3 points per game in the regular season, offering consistent offensive support.
Via X, Charania reported that the 27-year-old is expected to be a game-time decision for Wednesday’s Game 5.
The player is also said to be optimistic about making his comeback. If he returns, it would provide a major boost for the Lakers at a critical stage of the series.
In contrast, the outlook for Kevin Durant appears less positive. While speaking on ESPN’s Get Up show, Charania said that the Rockets star is not expected to return for Game 5.
Durant has been dealing with a left ankle injury that has limited his involvement. He has played just one game in the series so far – the 101-94 Game 2 loss.
The issue is reportedly affecting his stability and mobility, making a quick return difficult.
