Union Berlin's director of football, Horst Heldt, has issued a strong condemnation of the "insane" and "embarrassing" sexist abuse targeting the club's new interim head coach, Marie-Louise Eta. This landmark appointment made Eta the first woman to manage a men's team in one of Europe's top five leagues, a significant step forward for the sport.

Despite the historic nature of her role, Eta has faced a barrage of discriminatory comments on social media since the announcement. Heldt forcefully dismissed this negativity, emphasizing that the decision was based purely on quality and leadership.
