Serie A is buzzing with managerial drama as Napoli sets its sights on a familiar face. Maurizio Sarri, currently at the helm of Lazio, has emerged as the top candidate to take over at Napoli—should Antonio Conte decide to step away at the end of the season.

Sarri, the 67-year-old Tuscan tactician, still has two years left on his contract with Lazio. But after a season marked by tension and turmoil, his future in Rome is far from certain. He has openly clashed with Lazio president Claudio Lotito, even siding with fans in their protests against the increasingly unpopular leader. Lotito, never one to back down, has fired back, insisting he remains in charge at Formello. With crucial talks expected in the coming weeks—potentially after the Coppa Italia final and the Derby della Capitale—Sarri's next move could reshape the Italian football landscape.

Meanwhile, Napoli is facing its own uncertainty. Conte's future is up in the air, with rumors linking him to the vacant Italian national team job. If he leaves, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly already reached out to Sarri. Now, two of Italy's most trusted journalists have confirmed that Sarri is Napoli's first choice to replace Conte.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, "Sarri is definitely Napoli's first choice if they ever end up divorcing Conte. De Laurentiis doesn't want to lose sporting director Giovanni Manna and would like the new Napoli to be entrusted to the coach who has given him the most excitement in terms of his playing style, namely Maurizio Sarri."

Of course, contracts are in play: Conte's with Napoli and Sarri's with Lazio. But as the summer approaches, all eyes are on these two Serie A giants—and the potential return of a fan-favorite tactician to Naples.
