As one of the biggest coaching names in the NFL, it doesn't take much for Sean McVay to make headlines. Last night, however, his reaction to the Los Angeles Rams drafting Alabama QB Ty Simpson at No. 13 did not appear to be a happy one.
McVay appeared mute and still when Rams general manager Les Snead addressed the media after taking Simpson early in the first round. This sparked a frenzy on social media and gave viewers the impression that McVay did not want the team to draft the Alabama quarterback.
Today, just after Day 2 of the NFL Draft, McVay came forward to clear the air, saying all is well between him and Snead, and the two were hand-in-hand in decision-making. McVay even took time to poke fun at his previous reaction.
Here is McVay's full conversation with the media following Friday's second and third rounds, along with a look back at how he reacted after Round 1.

After Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft concluded, the Rams' coach and general manager spoke in front of the media.
According to McVay, his reaction happened, and he cannot change that. However, he clarified that he and his general manager "couldn't be in more lockstep" when it comes to making decisions about the team.
The Super Bowl-winning coach also stated that he was not in the best mood last night due to things that were not related to the Los Angeles football team. Here is what McVay said.

Social media users also noticed that McVay was a man of few words last night when discussing the team's new QB, which was the first glance at his unhappiness.

McVay began the press conference in a light-hearted manner, poking fun at his reaction: "What do you guys think? Do I look angry right now?"
After this, McVay pointed at Snead and said, "I will say this though. The one thing that would never be doubted is we couldn't be in more lockstep with every decision we make."
The coach continued, while addressing a media member who tweeted about his reaction. McVay clarified saying the franchise is comfortable with how the first two days of their draft went.
"I get my demeanor last night, but we're excited about it," McVay said.
