Sean Cox got to say a personal goodbye to Salah at the Chelsea match.

There was a moment of pure class at Anfield on Saturday that transcended the disappointing result against Chelsea. While the match may not have gone Liverpool's way, the real story of the day was the heartwarming reunion between Mohamed Salah and a true Red legend—Sean Cox.

For those unfamiliar with Sean's incredible journey, this Irish Liverpool supporter was brutally attacked by AS Roma fans back in 2018, suffering severe physical and neurological injuries that kept him in Liverpool for nearly two years before he could return home to Ireland to continue his recovery. Since then, he has built an unbreakable bond with the club, even returning to Anfield to say a personal goodbye to Jürgen Klopp when the legendary manager departed.

Now, with Salah set to leave this summer, Sean got one more special moment with his hero. But this wasn't just any meet-and-greet—Sean came bearing a gift that perfectly bridged two worlds of sport. He presented Salah with a jersey from his local Gaelic Athletic Association club, St. Peter's in Dunboyne. The shirt, embroidered with Salah's name and number 11 on the back, also featured a beautiful touch: the crest included the lyrics of "You'll Never Walk Alone" translated into Irish.

As the club's social media post beautifully put it: "From one legend to another. Sean Cox proudly presented Liverpool star Mohamed Salah with a special St. Peter's Dunboyne GAA jersey during an unforgettable day at Anfield. The jersey symbolises the lasting connection between Sean, the Cox family, Dunboyne, and the Liverpool community. Ní shiúlfaidh tú i d’aonar go deo." (You'll never walk alone.)

It's moments like these that remind us why football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch. The Cox family's relationship with Liverpool has been a testament to the club's values, and while some key figures in that journey are moving on, here's hoping the club continues to honor this special connection in the years to come.
