Cam Akers’ time with the Seattle Seahawks has come to an end.
According to The Athletic’s Michael Shawn-Dugar, the Seahawks announced they released Akers on Monday.
Akers spent his lone season with the Seahawks in 2025. The Mississippi native played in six games for Seattle last season after being signed midway through the year. He did not receive any carries with the Seahawks. Akers recorded 19 rushing yards on the season, all coming with the Minnesota Vikings.
Seattle’s decision to part ways with Akers comes on the heels of the team selecting Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Akers was slated to compete for carries behind Price and Emanuel Wilson to start next season with Seattle’s starting running back Zach Charbonnet shelved with a torn ACL.
Akers hits the free agent pile following his sixth season played in the league. He has rushed for 2,044 rushing yards in his career. Akers recorded a career-high 786 rushing yards in 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams.
