Scotland lose a reduced-overs match against Oman by 12 runs in what has been a frustrating World Cup League 2 visit to Namibia.

Scotland's Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign in Namibia hit another soggy snag, culminating in a 12-run defeat to Oman in a rain-shortened 20-over contest. The result adds to a frustrating trip where weather has been the dominant opponent, with one match abandoned and another rained off entirely.

Put in to bat, Oman's openers seized the initiative, with captain Jatinder Singh (51) and Ashish Odedara (43) powering them to 100 without loss at the 10-over mark. However, Scotland's bowlers fought back brilliantly in the middle overs. Safyaan Sharif triggered a collapse with two wickets in the 15th over, supported by Michael Leask and Jack Jarvis, restricting Oman to 163-7 despite a late flurry from Shakeel Ahmed.

Scotland's chase never found its rhythm, losing early wickets including the dangerous Brandon McMullen after a brief, explosive cameo of 22. Wicketkeeper Matthew Cross top-scored with 24, but regular wickets and tight Oman bowling stifled the innings. A late flurry of 17 runs in the final over was too little, too late, as Scotland finished on 151-9.

In the broader League 2 context, the defending champions remain second in the table but have now played three games more than leaders the USA. Oman's victory lifts them to third, just three points behind Scotland with games in hand. The tri-series continues with Oman facing Namibia on Friday, before Scotland looks to end their challenging tour on a high against the hosts on Sunday.
