The NC State Wolfpack men's basketball program has secured a major backcourt addition for its new era. Former Santa Clara point guard Christian Hammond has committed to the program via the NCAA transfer portal, bringing two seasons of remaining eligibility to Raleigh.

Hammond arrives with significant momentum after a breakout sophomore campaign. He started all 34 games for the Broncos, averaging 15.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, and helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament. His development marks a dramatic leap from his freshman year, where he played a reserve role, averaging just 3.7 points in limited minutes.

This move represents a homecoming of sorts for first-year head coach Justin Gainey, who is building his initial roster after taking over for Will Wade. Gainey, most recently the associate head coach at Tennessee, will look to Hammond to be a cornerstone in his system. The guard's proven scoring ability and experience running an offense that reached the Big Dance make him an immediate-impact candidate for the ACC.
