The San Francisco 49ers traded out of the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and added a few more picks in the later rounds.
The Niners were originally slated to make their first round pick at No. 27 but they traded down to the No. 30 pick, sending No. 27 to the Miami Dolphins. San Francisco also received the No. 90 pick in the third round.
Once the No. 30 selection came around, they traded down again. The 49ers skipped out on a first round selection, trading the No. 30 pick to the New York Jets for additional picks.
New York sent No. 33 and No. 179, a second- and fifth-rounder, to San Francisco.
The 49ers came into this draft having made splash signings: receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, defensive backs Jack Jones and Nate Hobbs. They re-signed veteran offensive tackle Trent Williams.
Entering the draft, San Francisco seemingly needed to focus on safety, defensive edge and the offensive line.
Here are the 49ers' draft selections and what experts are saying:

The 49ers now have six picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Here's the complete list:
The 49ers could use an upgrade at left guard but also need to think about finding a successor for Trent Williams, who turns 38 in July.
San Francisco posted the second-worst pressure rate in the league last season, per NFL Next Gen Stats. The 49ers should improve in that area with Nick Bosa and 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams returning from season-ending injuries, but fortifying the pass rushing rotation needs to be a priority for John Lynch.
Mike Evans and Christian Kirk signed with the 49ers in free agency, but the team could stand to add young depth to its rotation behind the 32- and 29-year-old veterans. Using one of the team's many mid-round selections on a pass-catching understudy to partner with Ricky Pearsall long-term would be wise.
