Big news coming out of Tucson—Arizona volleyball has just added some serious firepower to their roster, snagging former San Diego Torero Kennedy Osunsanmi from the transfer portal. Head coach Rita Stubbs made it clear she was hunting for talent across nearly every position this spring, and she's landed a gem in this 6-foot-3 opposite hitter.
"Kennedy is a dynamic, athletic player, and we are excited to welcome her to Arizona," Stubbs said in the official announcement. "She has the ability to compete and play right away with her experience and talent."
Osunsanmi brings a wealth of experience from her two seasons at San Diego, where she appeared in 145 sets across 48 matches. During that stretch, she averaged 2.23 kills per set on a solid .244 hitting percentage. Her all-around game shines through with 0.68 blocks per set and 0.12 service aces per set, translating to a career average of 2.70 points per set. She also chipped in 0.87 digs per set, showing she's more than just an offensive weapon.
Her breakout came as a freshman in 2024, when she earned a spot on the WCC All-Freshman team and received All-WCC honorable mention honors. That season, she started 27 of 28 matches and played 98 sets, posting impressive numbers: 2.56 kills per set on .241 hitting, 0.72 blocks per set, and 0.17 service aces per set for 3.10 points per set. Her kills and points ranked third on the team, while her blocks were fifth, and she added 1.05 digs per set to round out her stat line.
Her sophomore year in 2025 saw a reduced role, with Osunsanmi appearing in 47 sets across 21 matches. Her production dipped slightly to 1.53 kills per set, 0.60 blocks per set, and 1.85 points per set, with both kills and blocks placing fifth on the team. Still, those numbers would have made an immediate impact for Arizona—her kills and points per set would have ranked fourth on last year's Wildcats roster, while her blocks per set would have been fifth.
Osunsanmi's time at San Diego was marked by team success as well. The Toreros went 19-9 during her freshman campaign and improved to 25-5 in her sophomore year. USD earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, though they fell to Kansas State in the first round.
Now, Osunsanmi heads to Tucson with two years of eligibility remaining—or potentially three if the NCAA adopts a five-year window. For Arizona fans, this is a signing that could pay immediate dividends as the Wildcats look to reload and make noise in the Pac-12. Keep an eye on this dynamic pin hitter as she brings her athleticism and experience to the desert.
