New Orleans Saints fans will have to wait a little longer to see second-round draft pick Christen Miller in action. The defensive tackle from Georgia was notably absent from the practice field during the first day of rookie minicamp at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center on Friday, as 54 of the 55 players in attendance got to work.

Miller, a powerful interior lineman who helped anchor Georgia's dominant defense, was the only rookie not participating in drills. While some speculated his absence was due to an unsigned contract—especially since all seven of the Saints' other draft picks signed on Friday—head coach Kellen Moore quickly put those rumors to rest.

"He's fine," Moore said during his post-practice media availability. "We're just taking a cautious approach with some of these guys. It's part of the process when they come in—checking on their bodies and making sure they're ramping up the right way. He wasn't out there doing field work, but he'll be fine."

Moore clarified that Miller isn't dealing with an injury from his college days at Georgia. Instead, the team is simply being proactive. "Just checking him out, making sure he's good. Body-wise, it's like, 'Hey, let's slow this thing down for him and put him in a good position to get ramped up,'" Moore explained.

Miller is still fully engaged with the team, attending meetings and working with coaches at the facility. The issue appears minor—perhaps a case of overdoing it in the weight room, given his frequent social media posts about workouts. Or maybe those glazed beignets he jokingly warned could be a problem caught up with him. Either way, it doesn't sound like he'll be sidelined long.

For Saints fans eager to see their new defensive tackle rotation, patience is key. Miller and fellow rookie defensive tackle Zxavian Harris—another big-name addition—are expected to be fully ready when training camp kicks off in late July. Until then, consider this a small speed bump on the road to what promises to be an exciting season in New Orleans.
