The New Orleans Saints added 9 players during the draft (one through trade), 10 UDFAs, and OLB Anfernee Jennings to this roster. That put the team over the 90-player limit, so some moves needed to be made. It was always likely that some of these more overcrowded positions would see changes soon, and we saw that in today’s moves.

The Saints have released WR Samori Toure, RB Evan Hull, and TE Elijah Cooks.

Starting with Toure, this was always coming after the Saints added three WRs in the draft. As of now, the near gaurentees for the WR room next season are Chris Olave, Jorydn Tyson, Devaughn Vele, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown. That’s already 5 of the 6 spots the Saints would likely enter the 2026 season with. One more spot is open, and it is going to be a training camp war for it.

Last year, for the 53-man roster cuts, the Saints brought 4 RBs and 3 TEs into the 2025 season. For both positions, the Saints already have those spots overfilled. Yes, Alvin Kamara’s future is up in the air, but after drafting zero RBs in the draft, I would expect him to be back. Even if he is gone, Kendre Miller could be the player to fill that fourth spot. Regarding TEs, Juwan Johnson is TE1, Oscar Delp is TE2 or TE3, and Noah Fant will be competing with Delp for those spots.

After these cuts, the Saints have an open spot on their roster.
