I really like what the New Orleans Saints did with their first pick in the first round, selecting Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State.
Tyson will have an opportunity to be a very good player for New Orleans, pairing him with Chris Olave. It was reported multiple times throughout the draft process that the Saints were looking to improve the offense by giving Tyler Shough more options around him, and Tyson will provide him with just that.
However, just like every draft pick, there will always be questions about whether it was the right or wrong decision. That was recently brought up about Tyson, as some question his injury history.
“Biggest question: Tyson's injury history is extensive, which could be a concern. Olave, the Saints' No. 1 wideout, suffered health issues of his own when he had several concussions in 2024. Tyson has had hamstring issues, knee issues, an ankle injury and a broken collarbone. Keeping him healthy will be a top priority for the Saints, who have admitted they are more risk-averse when drafting than they might have been in the past,” Katherine Terrell of ESPN wrote.
While there are questions about every player who will be drafted, that doesn't mean there aren't real concerns about injuries. Tyson's injury history is fair to bring up, and something the organization will have to hope improves moving forward.
