St Helens withstood a strong second-half fightback by Wakefield Trinity to move joint top of Super League on points with Leeds Rhinos
Victory means Saints have won nine of their past 10 matches in all competitions, and they made light of the fact that Trinity arrived at the Brewdog Stadium in confident mood after winning six of their previous seven.
Facing the meanest defence in the competition to date, Saints stormed into a 16-0 half-time lead with tries from Jake Davies, Kyle Feldt and Tristan Sailor.
Trinity suffered from poor decision-making and some stiff Saints defence, but they found their feet in the second half and closed the gap as Tyson Smoothy and Caius Faatili both went over the line.
