The New Orleans Saints have had an active draft, adding a ton of talent to both sides of the ball. But their defensive additions have lagged behind their offensive picks.

Before their No. 172 pick, the Saints took just one defensive player in Christian Miller, a defensive tackle. But, as NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports, the Saints have drafted defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr. out of Ohio State.

This is a fun pick beyond his elite speed, as Styles Jr. is the brother of Sonny Styles, who was drafted by the Washington Commanders at No. 7 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Styles is the brother of Sonny Styles, who went 165 picks before Lorenzo Styles Jr. went in this year's NFL Draft class.

The Styles brothers dominated the NFL Scouting Combine, and the Saints' new defensive back was the star of the show.

At 6-foot-0, 194 pounds, Styles ran a ridiculously impressive 4.27-second 40-yard dash with a 1.49 10-yard split. He also had a 39'' vertical jump, proving some elite athleticism.

There are some questions about his on-field ability, as the Ohio State Buckeyes' safety didn't record an interception in his NFL career.

He had 30 total tackles this past season, and had two passes defended this past season and four passes defended the year before.

Styles initially began his career as a wide receiver and has been steadily getting used to being a defensive back. There's some intriguing upside with Styles in the NFL.

Of course, Styles still has some question marks about his play, as he might be more likely to be a practice squad player or a special teamer to begin his career.

But the upside with Styles is intriguing. While he went a lot later than his brother, who went inside the top-10 of the 2026 NFL Draft, this fifth-round selection from the Saints is a fun pick for New Orleans down the board.
