AS Monaco are at a critical crossroads. After a stunning nine-game winning streak had them flying high in Ligue 1, the wheels have suddenly come off. Three matches without a win—draws against Paris FC and AJ Auxerre, followed by a loss to Toulouse FC—have left the Principality club in seventh place, six points adrift of Lille OSC and the final UEFA Champions League spot.

With just three games remaining, manager Sébastien Pocognoli isn't sugarcoating the situation. "That we are out of the Champions League places is a reality," the Belgian admitted in a press conference. But he quickly shifted focus to what's still achievable: "There are other European places, and we have to count on ourselves to get there. It's important for the club, the players, and the supporters to remain on the European scene next season. We will do everything to make that happen."

The message is clear: European football is still within reach, but time is running out. And the key to reversing their fortunes? According to Pocognoli, it's all about rediscovering the team's identity.

"We need to find unity and co-operation across the full 90 minutes," he said. "Our biggest strength in our best moments has been when we are on the same wavelength—we are formidable. Even when there was a shortcoming, a teammate was there to atone for the error. That balance made the mistake irrelevant by the end of the match. Right now, we're lacking that, and it's causing a complete lack of balance in certain moments."

Pocognoli also pointed to leadership as a factor in their inconsistency. "We have to remain emotionally neutral during difficult spells. We managed that in past weeks, but not recently. We'll get back to basics on that front."

The road ahead is unforgiving. Monaco travel to Metz on Saturday, then host Lille in a potential six-pointer at the Stade Louis II, before finishing the season away to RC Strasbourg Alsace. Every point matters now—and so does every moment of unity on the pitch.
