Rutgers wrestling has added its first opponent to next year’s out-of-conference schedule, as they are set to take on Lehigh on Sunday, November 15th, 2026, at Jersey Mike’s Arena, according to a post made by The Knight Report.
Rutgers and Lehigh have met on the mat 46 times since 1941. The Mountain Hawks have dominated the Scarlet Knights over that time, holding a 43-3 series advantage, with two of the Knights’ three wins coming in the last four matches between the schools.
Lehigh is no stranger to competition against bigger schools. The Mountain Hawks finished last season with an 11-7 overall record in dual meets that included wins over schools like Arizona State, Cornell, Duke, Princeton, and Virginia.
Lehigh also ranks sixth all-time in individual national champions per school, with 28, and eighth all-time in most individual All-Americans per school, with 165.
Rutgers, on the other hand, is coming off a very strong season in its own right, despite a disappointing finish at the NCAA tournament. Last season, the Knights pulled off a win against No.6 Minnesota, and they sent 9 wrestlers to the NCAA tournament, which is tied for the second most in program history.
This is the first match that has been confirmed for next season, with many more expected to be announced soon.
