The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have secured a significant boost for their frontcourt, landing Virginia Tech transfer center Christian Gurdak. The promising big man announced his commitment via social media, marking a key offseason acquisition for head coach Steve Pikiell.

Gurdak arrives in Piscataway with three years of eligibility remaining after a solid freshman campaign with the Hokies. He appeared in 31 games, starting 10, and averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per contest. His efficiency was a standout trait, as he shot an impressive 63.2% from the field.

The 6'11" center showcased his high potential in a signature performance against rival and then-No. 21 Virginia. In a thrilling triple-overtime victory on New Year's Eve, Gurdak exploded for 17 points and a dominant 19 rebounds, proving he can shine on a big stage. His tenacity on the glass was a season-long strength, evidenced by an offensive rebound rate of 14.8% that ranked among the ACC's best for players with comparable minutes.

A former four-star recruit out of Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., Gurdak adds much-needed size and athleticism to the Rutgers roster. For a team looking to compete in the physical Big Ten, securing a versatile and energetic big man like Gurdak is a major step forward. He now has the opportunity to expand his role and become a cornerstone for the Scarlet Knights' defense and rebounding efforts in the seasons ahead.
