Mark your calendars, Rutgers basketball fans—the 2026-2027 season is starting to take shape, and the Scarlet Knights have locked in their first official game date. On November 16th, Rutgers will host the Bryant Bulldogs in a non-conference showdown at Jersey Mike's Arena. This adds to a schedule that's slowly coming together, with the Big Ten recently revealing conference home-and-away matchups and the Players Era Tournament brackets also taking form. Another non-conference opponent, Army, has been announced but doesn't yet have a date attached.
For Rutgers, this matchup looks like a prime opportunity to build early momentum. Bryant struggled mightily last season in the America East Conference, finishing with a disappointing 9-22 record and a 5-11 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs were outmatched against high-major competition, falling to Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and No. 3 UConn by double digits. Their season ended with a first-round exit in the AEC tournament, losing 77-57 to Vermont. Leading the charge for Bryant will be rising sophomore small forward Timofei Rudovskii, who averaged 12.9 points per game as a freshman.
History is squarely in Rutgers' favor here. The Scarlet Knights hold a perfect 4-0 all-time record against the Bulldogs, with their last meeting coming in 2023. Meanwhile, Army also had a tough season, going 11-21 overall and 5-13 in the Patriot League. The Black Knights faced a brutal test against No. 4 Duke, losing 114-59, and saw their campaign end with a 65-55 loss to Bucknell in the Patriot League tournament. Rutgers and Army have met just once before, with the Scarlet Knights pulling out a narrow 75-72 win back in 2013.
As the schedule fills in, Rutgers fans have plenty to look forward to—and plenty of opportunities to gear up in Scarlet Knights apparel for what promises to be an exciting season.
