Abbie Rattay now holds all six major stat records for Roxbury High School girls lacrosse. Here's how 'once-in-a-lifetime' player did it.

Abbie Rattay has just etched her name into the history books, achieving a feat that cements her legacy at Roxbury High School. The senior midfielder now holds every major girls lacrosse school record, completing a clean sweep of the Gaels' record book by securing the marks for goals, assists, points, draw controls, ground balls, and caused turnovers.

The final two records—points and assists—fell this season in a display of her all-around dominance. Rattay first surpassed the points record of alumna Emma Karnitsky (2015-18) with a commanding six-goal, six-assist performance in the season opener against Holy Angels. The assist record proved a tougher chase, but she clinched it with a pivotal pass in a game against Montville, a moment celebrated by teammates holding congratulatory posters on the sideline.

For a player of her caliber, the sheer scale of the accomplishment is still sinking in. "It's crazy. How did I do this? All the records?" said Rattay, a University of Michigan commit. "Something about that's got a shock factor to it." Her staggering career totals—250 goals, 65 assists, 409 draw controls, 121 caused turnovers, and 166 ground balls—speak to a rare and complete skillset rarely seen at the high school level.

Her coach, Kevin Bewalder, puts her impact into perspective. "She's a once-in-a-lifetime kid coming through the program," he said, highlighting her unique ability to excel in every facet of the game while elevating her teammates. "It's been a treat to watch her." Rattay follows in the footsteps of record-holders like Karnitsky, who herself rewrote the books before moving on to play at The College of New Jersey, continuing a tradition of excellence for the Gaels.

Rattay's journey to lacrosse stardom began on the sidelines, watching her older brothers, Ryan and Matt, play their sports. Initially focused on softball and basketball, she was inspired to pick up a lacrosse stick after seeing her lifelong friend Brooke Franetovich play. That decision, as her father Tom recalls, set her on the path to becoming the record-shattering player she is today—a testament to how inspiration and dedication can forge a legendary career.
