Liam Rosenior slammed his players pretty hard in his post-match press conference with the media.

It had the air of a parting shot from a manager who knows his time is up. No point now defending the players who have got him sacked, may as well bring them down a little before he goes.

But he was, in fact, even more explosive in a chat with TalkSport.

“I can forgive mistakes of giving the ball away. I can forgive missing shots. What I can’t forgive is losing 50-50 duels, ducking out of headers at times. It’s embarrassing. I am really, really devastated not even at the result but the manner in which we lost this game,” the young coach said.

“I felt like we had turned a corner against Manchester United in terms of our body language and our commitment and desire, which is the bare minimum at this football club. And so for us to turn in that performance three days later leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.”

Without naming them, he called out a certain group who he thought simply hadn’t put the effort in:

“There were 3-4 players who gave everything and they were let down today by the rest.”

The Chelsea boss was exaggerating when he said his players had lost “80%” of their duels – but watching the game is did really did feel like that.

Rosenior openly blamed his players for the poor performance last night, the first time he’s really done that.
