Butler basketball is building its new era under first-year head coach Ronald Nored with a key front-office addition. The Bulldogs have appointed Matt Frederick as the program's chief of staff, a new position designed to support Nored's vision.
Frederick brings a unique and valuable blend of experience to Hinkle Fieldhouse. His background spans both the private sector and college athletics, having previously served as director of athlete performance at Gardner-Webb and Belmont. In his new role, he will act as a primary advisor on program operations, strategic planning, and goals, while also serving as a crucial liaison between the athletics department and the broader campus community.
For a program with a storied history of March Madness runs, this strategic hire signals a modern approach to building a competitive staff. "I’ve known Matt for a long time and his skillset is ideal for this position within our program," Nored said in a statement. "The college basketball industry has never been more complex... Matt will play a key role in navigating our path to success."
This move comes as Nored, a beloved former Bulldog player from the team's back-to-back national championship game appearances, takes the reins following Thad Matta's retirement. Adding a chief of staff focused on strategy and operations allows Nored to concentrate on coaching and recruiting as he looks to write the next chapter for Butler basketball.
