Joshua Zirkzee's future at Manchester United has been the subject of much speculation, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch striker may not be heading for the exit door just yet.

The 24-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2024 for £36.5 million following a stellar spell at Bologna. However, his time in Manchester has been anything but smooth, with a whirlwind of managerial changes leaving him searching for stability.

Originally signed by fellow countryman Erik ten Hag, Zirkzee found himself adapting to Ruben Amorim's system after Ten Hag's dismissal. Despite the upheaval, Amorim showed faith in the former Bayern Munich youngster, often preferring him over Rasmus Hojlund in key moments last season.

Fast forward to this campaign, and the landscape has shifted dramatically. The arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo have pushed Zirkzee down the pecking order. With Michael Carrick now at the helm, competition for the three attacking spots has intensified, leaving the Dutchman starved of minutes and relegated to bench duty.

This has naturally fueled exit rumors, with several top Serie A clubs monitoring the situation closely. Yet, speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano offered a different perspective: Zirkzee "loves being at Man Utd" and is determined to make his mark at the club.

The forward is understandably frustrated with his lack of playing time, but Romano suggests his fortunes could change next season. With Champions League football potentially returning to Old Trafford and the promise of deeper cup runs, opportunities may soon arise.

As a result, Zirkzee is expected to hold crucial talks with the club's hierarchy to seek guarantees about his role. For now, the door remains open for a player who still believes his best days in a United shirt are ahead of him.
