The Rockies' pitcher had an early exit on Thursday.

Colorado Rockies fans held their breath Thursday afternoon as promising young pitcher Chase Dollander made an early exit during the rubber match against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 24-year-old right-hander was pulled after just 1.2 innings, shaking his arm following a walk to Jared Triolo in the second frame.

Dollander's day started rough from the get-go. Over his brief outing, he surrendered five hits, three earned runs, and a walk—a far cry from his previous start against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he struck out five and allowed just two runs to earn his third win of the season. That performance had given Rockies fans hope that the young arm was finding his rhythm after a shaky beginning to his campaign.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Colin Beazley, the injury has been diagnosed as right arm soreness. Brennan Bernardino came on in relief, covering 1.1 innings while allowing two hits and two earned runs.

While there's no official word yet on whether Dollander will miss additional time, the Rockies' injury list is already growing long. He would join six other pitchers currently sidelined: Jimmy Herget, Jeff Criswell, Ryan Feltner, McCade Brown, RJ Petit, and Pierson Ohl—all out for various reasons.

For a Rockies team looking to build momentum, losing another arm to the training room is a tough break. Fans will be watching closely for updates on Dollander's status, hoping this is just a minor setback for a pitcher who's shown flashes of the talent that made him a top prospect.
