Robert MacIntyre’s game has come on leaps and bounds over the past few seasons.
MacIntyre is now one of the best and most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour.
The 29-year-old from Oban, Scotland, has two PGA Tour wins to his name, and he has started to contend more and more over the past 12 months.
MacIntyre came agonisingly close to winning the US Open at Oakmont last year.
He has also been in contention to win on the PGA Tour multiple times, especially at the BMW Championship in August and the Valero Texas Open earlier this month.
Robert MacIntyre has been criticized for his behavior on the PGA Tour, with his fiery temper having got the better of him on numerous occasions this season.
However, it is that fiery temper that makes the Scot such a great golfer.
He wears his heart on his sleeve and always tells it as it is.
MacIntyre was offered the chance to leave the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf.
However, it’s clear from just listening to him that he is not a man who is motivated by money.
MacIntyre was asked by Golf Digest to share the real reason why he chose to reject a move to LIV Golf when he was offered the chance to join them.
“My dream was to play Ryder Cups. I’ve done that. I’ve only got one dream left, and that’s winning a major. Once I do that, I could happily walk away the next day.
“The money we’re playing for on the PGA Tour is still extraordinary. I still have a great relationship with the DP World Tour. Tyrrell is someone I could call right now and ask anything.
“At the end of the day, the good people are still good people whether they went to LIV or stayed. There are guys on the PGA Tour I don’t particularly like, either. I’m not on any boards; I’m not getting involved.
“I’m just going to get the ball in the hole in as few shots as I can every week and go back to Scotland.“
MacIntyre was asked what he makes of certain players’ decisions to join LIV Golf for the money.
“I voiced my opinion early on, that the money was obscene,” the 29-year-old said.
“How much does a human need? But the more I’ve sat back and thought, I understand why certain guys went.
“Some timed it beautifully. Some guys I still think made crazy decisions. To each his own.“
MacIntyre is someone who wants to win to create a legacy in the game.
