Transfer rumors are swirling around Borussia Dortmund's striking department as the summer window approaches. Recent reports from Bild suggested the club had identified Newcastle United's Nick Woltemade as a potential replacement, should star forward Serhou Guirassy depart.
However, Dortmund's sporting managing director, Lars Ricken, has swiftly moved to shut down the speculation. When directly questioned about a possible loan move for Woltemade, Ricken's response was unequivocal: "That’s the first I’ve heard of it. No truth to it."
Ricken emphasized the club's current strength in attack, stating Dortmund are "excellently positioned" with the duo of Serhou Guirassy and Fábio Silva. His comments underscore a clear intent to build stability upfront for the coming season.
Despite Guirassy's reported €35 million release clause, which could attract interest from top clubs, Ricken remains confident the prolific striker will stay. He pointed out that speculation about Guirassy's exit is a recurring theme every transfer window, yet the player remains a key figure at Signal Iduna Park.
"It’s my wish and the wish of [sporting director] Ole [Book] and [head coach] Niko Kovac that Serhou remains with us this summer," Ricken affirmed. "He feels extremely comfortable at the club, and there is no intention to let him go." This firm stance from Dortmund's leadership aims to settle nerves and focus the squad on future challenges.
