ALTOONA, Pa. – When the rain finally cleared and the track dried at Mansion Park Stadium, the Richland boys were ready to make history. Despite a two-hour weather delay that tested everyone's patience, the Rams powered through to claim their third straight District 6 Class 2A team title, proving that championship teams find a way to win no matter the conditions.

Richland piled up 79 points to hold off a strong Central Cambria squad (66 points), with Bellwood-Antis (59.5), Tyrone (43), and Northern Cambria (40) rounding out the top five. The victory wasn't sealed until the final event, keeping the tension high for fans and athletes alike.

Leading the charge was senior standout Joe McAneny, who delivered a performance worthy of a three-peat celebration. McAneny anchored three gold medal-winning relays and captured individual titles in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. His 11.0 in the 100 and 22.55 in the 200 showed he's peaking at exactly the right time, especially after being sidelined by injury at last year's district meet.

"We told them before we got here, as long as everyone came through and PR'd or came close to PR'ing, we thought we'd have a good chance," Richland coach Chris Mangus said. "The boys came through well. Joey Mac really stepped up today."

The highlight of the night came in the 400-meter relay, where Richland's team of sophomore Alex Bond, junior Arnold Mugerwa, junior Nate Pugh, and McAneny set both a meet and program record with a blistering 43.11. The Rams had been chasing Bishop McCort Catholic's top time all season, and finally caught them when it mattered most.

"It feels great," Mugerwa said. "We've been chasing McCort's time for a little while, ever since LHAC."

McAneny also showed his clutch gene in the anchor leg, pulling away from Bishop McCort's Josh Spontak down the stretch. "It was very impressive," Mangus noted. "They really wanted to beat McCort bad."

In the distance events, Central Cambria's 4x800 relay team of Joshua Bearer, Reed Takacs, Miles Doyle, and Ethan Haycisak reclaimed the title from defending champion United, posting a winning time of 8:16.84.

With the top three finishers in each Class 2A event advancing to the PIAA championships May 22-23 in Shippensburg, several local athletes will get another chance to shine on the state's biggest stage. For the Rams, this three-peat is more than just a trophy—it's a testament to the program's depth, resilience, and championship culture.
