The NFL Draft has become one of the biggest events on the sports calendar, and the race to host it is heating up. While next year's draft is already set for Washington, D.C., the destination for 2028 is starting to take shape—and all signs point to Minnesota.

According to a report from Sports Business Journal's Austin Karp, Minnesota has emerged as the "clear favorite" to land the 2028 NFL Draft. The state submitted its official bid back in March, and the proposed plan is nothing short of ambitious.

The three-day event would be centered at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, but the festivities wouldn't stop there. Organizers are planning to spread the action across the Twin Cities, with events in St. Paul, the iconic Mall of America, and the Viking Lakes development near the team's headquarters in Eagan. It's a vision that combines football tradition with the unique character of the region.

The league's events committee is scheduled to meet next week to discuss the 2028 draft, and an ownership vote is expected during the next league meeting on May 19-20 in Orlando. If approved, Minnesota would join an impressive list of host cities since the draft became a traveling road show in 2015.

Since leaving its long-time home in New York City, the draft has made stops in Chicago (twice), Philadelphia, Dallas, Nashville, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Detroit, Green Bay, and Pittsburgh. Each city has put its own spin on the event, drawing massive crowds and generating significant economic impact.

For fans and collectors alike, the draft has become more than just a selection show—it's a celebration of football culture. And with Minnesota in the driver's seat for 2028, the Land of 10,000 Lakes could soon be the epicenter of the football world.
