The player in question is left-back Kostas Tsimikas. The 29-year-old Greek international joined AS Roma on a season-long loan last summer, shortly after Liverpool secured the signing of young defender Milos Kerkez. Tsimikas moved to Italy in search of the regular first-team minutes that had become scarce at Anfield, where he managed just 1,674 minutes under manager Arne Slot last season.

However, his quest for playing time in Rome hasn't gone to plan. Tsimikas has been limited to a mere 1,038 minutes this campaign, starting only six Serie A matches for the Giallorossi. His performances have drawn criticism, and Italian transfer reporters now suggest Roma's hierarchy is dissatisfied and extremely unlikely to make his move permanent.

This leaves Liverpool with a significant dilemma as the summer window approaches. Tsimikas is contracted to the Reds until June 2027 and is set to return to Merseyside at the end of the season.
