Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior earlier this week after less than four months in charge, following a run of five consecutive league defeats without scoring.

Rosenior is the second head coach to leave Stamford Bridge this season, following the departure of Enzo Maresca in January.

Calum McFarlane has been placed in interim charge for the remainder of the season, whilst Chelsea’s sporting directors conduct their search for another head coach.

There’s believed to be seven or eight names under consideration, with Andoni Iraola thought to be an early front runner.

David Ornstein expects an appointment to be made early in the summer, but as of yet there’s no clear indication over who that might be.

Chelsea are said to have admiration for Cesc Fabregas and Farioli, but A Bola have reported the Porto boss has no interest in the job and believes the project at the Portuguese club is more important.

It’s unclear whether either will be fit to start, but it’s unlikely Reece James will feature as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

If Chelsea advance past Leeds they would meet Manchester City in the final after they beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday.
