The Boston Red Sox's pitching staff is battling the injury bug.

No. 2 starting pitcher Sonny Gray was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain and left-handed starter Patrick Sandoval may have recently suffered a setback in his return from Tommy John surgery.

Right-handed reliever Tyler Uberstine was placed on Triple-A Worcester's IL with right shoulder soreness Thursday and top-pitching prospect Juan Valera is reportedly undergoing an MRI on his right elbow this week.

There are more Red Sox arms either injured or recovering, including Kutter Crawford.

The 30-year-old righty missed the entire 2025 season due to knee and wrist ailments and addressed his status on Tuesday.

"Kutter Crawford says he felt tightness in his elbow during his last rehab outing and a subsequent MRI showed inflammation in his flexor tendon. He’s shut down for now until that subsides but said it’s already trending in the right direction," Mac Cerullo of The Boston Herald posted on Bluesky.

Crawford finished 9-16 with a 4.36 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 175 strikeouts in 183 2/3 innings (33 starts) during the 2024 campaign.
