On Monday, the Boston Red Sox lost starting pitcher Sonny Gray to an apparent hamstring injury.

Gray made it clear after exiting Monday's contest against the Detroit Tigers that he didn't think the injury was anything serious.

"I can honestly say it doesn’t feel like it’s a horrible thing,” Gray said. “It’s just something that’s going to take however long it’s going to take to get right. I don’t know what that is right now."

While this is the case, reports surfaced on Monday indicating that Gray would be placed on the Injured List and that Tyler Samaniego would likely replace him on the roster, at least over the next few days. On Tuesday, the Red Sox made that news official and announced that Gray has been placed on the 15-Day Injured List and Samaniego has been recalled in his place.

"The RedSox today placed RHP Sonny Gray on the 15-Day Injured List with a right hamstring strain. To fill his spot, Boston recalled LHP Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester," the Red Sox announced.

So, it has been confirmed that Gray is dealing with a right hamstring strain and the lefty reliever will come up to Boston and try to help the club stop the Yankees' offense. It's tough to lose Gray. Now, we wait to see who will replace him in the starting rotation, for the time being.
