Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that star outfielder Roman Anthony's absence from the starting lineup would likely last just one game.
Cora gave an unfortunate update on Thursday morning ahead of the Red Sox's series finale vs. the New York Yankees though.
"Alex Cora says on @TheGregHillShow Roman Anthony is out today with Jarren Duran leading off and Ceddanne Rafaela hitting second," WEEI Red Sox insider Rob Bradford posted on X.

Even though Anthony has gotten off to a slow start this year with one home run, four RBIs and a .225/.361/.325 slash line over 97 plate appearances, Boston badly needs the 21-year-old healthy and in the lineup.
The Red Sox enter Thursday ranked last in MLB in home runs (13), total bases (265) and slugging percentage (.333).
Numerous Boston players are currently dealing with injuries, including three-time All-Star starting pitcher Sonny Gray, who was placed on the injured list Tuesday due to a hamstring issue.
