Brayan Bello was originally scheduled to start the contest but has been pushed back to Friday's game vs. the Baltimore Orioles.

Top pitching prospect Payton Tolle has been recalled from Triple-A Worcester to start Thursday's contest and Rivera is joining the WooSox.

"The #RedSox today recalled left-handed pitcher Payton Tolle from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, Boston optioned left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rivera to Worcester following last night’s game," the Red Sox's official account posted on X.

Rivera worked 3 1/3 shutout innings and allowed just one hit during Boston's 4-1 loss against New York on Wednesday.

It was first reported on Sunday that Tolle was scratched from his Saturday start with Worcester in case inclement weather led to a Red Sox doubleheader on Monday.

Gray started the team's Marathon Monday win vs. the Detroit Tigers but exited in the third inning due to a hamstring injury.
