The Red Sox have a lot of questions after firing Alex Cora and five members of his coaching staff Saturday night.

“We’re still working through that,” chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Sunday. “Obviously things have moved pretty quickly and particularly for (interim manager Chad Tracy), but what I told him is we want to make this as comfortable as possible. And so I want him to give some thought to that. And I know he’s got relationships with many of the people on staff, and we’ll kind of figure out exactly who takes on those responsibilities.”

Ramón Vázquez had been with the Red Sox since 2018 and became the bench coach in 2022.

Double-A Portland manager Chad Epperson will be Boston’s interim third base coach, while Triple-A Worcester hitting coach Collin Hetzler will join the Red Sox hitting staff.

There will be other additions to the staff, though it’s unclear who and when.

“We’re still kind of working through the specific logistics, but again, kind of similar to answering that bench coach question,” Breslow said. “Once Trace has a chance to get his feet under him a little bit, we’re going to talk through where he feels like he can be complimented.”

José Flores, Boston’s first base coach, was named by Tracy as someone who could be the bench coach. Flores was Tracy’s bench coach in Worcester from 2022 to 2024 before joining the major league staff before last season.

“I think in the immediate, there’s probably some plans on talking through other people internally that we can get here for helping hands. We’ll talk more about that today as we get after the game, onto the plane. But I do think that the thought is getting somebody in there, whether that’s Flo or somebody in there that’s experienced, that can stand with me and Bails (pitching coach Andrew Bailey) obviously has a lot of experience,” Tracy, speaking to the Boston media for the first time, said prior to Sunday’s game.

The shakeup came hours after the Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles, 17-1, at Camden Yards. Tracy left Saturday’s WooSox game and headed for Baltimore to join the Red Sox that night.
