Recruiting season is heating up, and Michigan Football is making serious moves to stack its 2027 class. The Wolverines are set to host their first wave of official visits starting May 29, but the coaching staff isn't waiting around—they're already working the phones and extending offers to top talent across the country.

One of the most intriguing storylines involves a prospect who's already pledged to an ACC powerhouse. Four-star wide receiver Chuck Alexander, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound standout from Cincinnati, Ohio, committed to Louisville back in November. But Michigan special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs recently stepped in with an offer that has the recruit rethinking his future.

"Coach Coombs told me that I had an offer and I was shocked, but proud and excited with myself," Alexander told The Michigan Insider. "The Michigan offer means to just keep putting my faith in God and I just got to work harder than I ever been working."

While Alexander says he remains committed to the Cardinals, he admits he's "interested in (Michigan) a lot" and hasn't ruled out a visit to Ann Arbor. "Maybe," he said when asked about a potential trip, adding, "right now, I'm still thinking on it." The Wolverines are clearly a step up in program prestige, and this could be a flip worth watching.

Alexander isn't short on options, either—he holds offers from South Carolina, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and others. He even took a spring visit to Ohio State, though the Buckeyes didn't extend an offer.

Meanwhile, running backs coach Tony Alford is casting a wide net in the 2027 class, and one name rising fast is in-state three-star Lundon Hampton. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Grand Rapids native recently earned his Michigan offer and has already made multiple trips to Ann Arbor this spring. The vibes are strong here, with several recruiting predictions pointing toward the Wolverines landing his commitment.

"Michigan is definitely a great program," Hampton told Rivals. "I like their culture, the way they develop."

With official visits on the horizon and the staff aggressively pursuing top talent, Michigan's 2027 class is shaping up to be one to watch. Whether it's flipping a Louisville commit or locking down in-state talent, the Wolverines are leaving no stone unturned.
