Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is facing a lengthy suspension after a shocking sucker punch on Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in Sunday's match.

Andrada was already shown a red card after being given a second yellow in the 98th minute for shoving Pulido.

But the 35-year-old Argentine took things much further when he chased Pulido down and delivered a punch directly to his face.

Chaos ensued directly after as a massive brawl between the two La Liga 2 clubs began. This resulted in red cards for both Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez and Zaragoza defender Dani Tasende.

Andrada, who is on loan from Liga MX giants Monterrey, issued an apology after the incident.

"The truth is I'm very, very sorry for what happened," Andrada said.

"It's not a good image for the club, for the fans, and especially not for a professional like myself. So, I'm very sorry.

"Throughout my career, I've only had one red card, and that was for a handball outside the penalty area.

"I also want to apologize to Jorge Pulido because we are colleagues, and honestly, it was my fault, I lost focus at that moment, and well, I am here for whatever consequences the league may give me."

Zaragoza also issued a statement after the match, stating it will "take the appropriate disciplinary measures."

"We witnessed scenes unbecoming of this sport and which should never have occurred," the club said.

"These events do not represent the values of Real Zaragoza or its fans, who throughout its history have been characterized by sportsmanship, courage, and respect for the opponent.

"We are role models and examples for many fans, especially children, who cheer us on at every match and aspire to one day become one of their idols.

"That is why these regrettable images should never have been seen."

In a battle between two clubs fighting for survival, Huesca midfielder Óscar Sielva scored the match-winner in the 65th minute.

Zaragoza is currently 21st in the Spanish second division, occupying a relegation spot.
