Real Madrid's midfield maestro Dani Ceballos has reportedly played his final match for the club, marking the end of a nine-year journey that included a brief two-year loan spell at Arsenal. The 27-year-old playmaker, once tipped as a future star at the Santiago Bernabéu, now finds himself on the outs after a falling-out with manager Álvaro Arbeloa.

Ceballos has seen his role diminish significantly in recent seasons, particularly under Carlo Ancelotti and now under Arbeloa. After turning down a deadline-day move to Olympique Marseille last summer, he appeared destined for an exit this transfer window. Ajax has emerged as a potential suitor, though the Spanish international still harbors hopes of returning to his boyhood club, Real Betis. With just one year left on his contract, the clock is ticking.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the midfielder was a surprise omission from the squad during last week's 1-1 draw with Real Betis. When pressed on the decision, Arbeloa offered a terse response: "I call up all the players I consider appropriate." The tension between the two had been simmering since earlier this season, but matters came to a head last Thursday when Ceballos and Arbeloa engaged in a heated argument in the manager's office. Ceballos reportedly requested that all professional relations be cut off, effectively isolating himself from the team.

While the midfielder continues to train with the squad, he is no longer considered part of the matchday plans. He has informed teammates that the issue is personal between him and Arbeloa, but the club is standing firmly behind their manager. There is a growing suspicion within the organization that Ceballos may have intentionally provoked the conflict as a way to engineer his exit, providing a convenient excuse for his lack of playing time when speaking to potential buyers.

For now, Ceballos remains in limbo—training but not playing, present but not part of the squad. Unless there is a dramatic turn of events, his Real Madrid story appears to have reached an unceremonious end. As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on where this talented but frustrated midfielder lands next.
